Original sight had two peeps. One for 100yd*, the other for 200yd* distances.

V-notch is a nice touch. Unless its unoriginal status is annoying, shoot it, and see where it prints.

If you decide to return it to original configuration, best you drive out the pin. Don't attempt to drift out the base from the dovetailed receiver notch. It has been staked in place during manufacture. Best, Joe

It was for 150 and 300 yards. Sight looks original, but better close up pictures would help a lot! The V notch modification was not uncommon among GI's. Even more so among arms lent to postwar Germany and Austria. Best bet from a collectors standpoint is to leave it alone.

By the way, your sight is modified on the 300 yard side.

35 years of collecting, ive never ever seen a v-notch sight. even if a gi did it, and thats obvious, it wasnt common and who ever did it didnt know much about shooting. the gi must have been bored out of his mind, maybe some kind of border guard. i would change it. just my opinion.
