to mine knowledge there never was a 41 mag made with fixed sights

so if it does have them and is marked new model blackhawk some body screwed up and yes it may have a higher value because of it

you should post pictures of it at

    www.rugerforum.com

Old Model Vaquero's are the same frame as the New Model Blackhawks there is NO difference in frame size on them--the New Model Vaquero is smaller though. Is the barrel marked with the usual Ruger safety warnings-known as a banner as they take up half the barrel? Ruger used 4 5/8" barrels and now uses 4.62" ones--you sure yours is 4 3/8"? If you post some good pics of both sides of the gun we might be able to help more. Sounds to me like the gun was a .357 Mag Vaquero at one point in it's life and then converted to .41 Mag which has been done by guys like Hamilton Bowen and John Linebaugh. It's wouldn't even be difficult for the gun to be refinished and restamped with the correct caliber & name markings.

It is always POSSIBLE some distributor ordered a batch of guns that Ruger doesn't even catalog--I have a Bisley in .44 Special that they don't catalog but you can buy from Lipseys for example. GENERALLY it is the Pre 1973 Blackhawks(the Old Models) that have collector appeal but that does not mean someone wouldn't want what you bought--after all it appealed enough to you to buy it. As far as I know Ruger has never offered a fixed sight .41 Mag New Model Blackhawk.
