Steyr M9 Question
I bought one of these and love it! But like the Glocks they have an open cavity on the bottom. Does anyone make a plug for these like they do for glocks?

I just traded for one yesterday and shot it for the first time today.
I took it apart last night for a good, thorough cleaning and I must say that it really is much better put together than a Glock.
I used to have a Glock 19 but this Steyr M9 is much more impressive.
Having said all that, I had three stovepipe-type jams today all while using CCI Blazer brass 115 gr FMJ's.
I also shot about fifteen Federal Hydrashocks that I have had over six years just because I figured they might be getting a little more likely to fail should I need them.
I also shout about 50 rounds of Winchester White Box with no jams of any kind.
Could it be that I was limp-wristing on those jams?
Basically, the empty brass wasn't ejected clear of the pistol and got caught by the slide when it attempted to come back into battery.
The empty brass was in line with the barrel all three times like the extractor never got a hold of it.
The fresh round had been partially forced up under it by the slide.
It ended up being pinned between the fresh round and the top of the slide.
Just now as I tried to recreate this with the pistol I noticed that if I have a round chambered with the magazine out of the pistol the round will just fall down the mag well.
If I leave the mag in the pistol the round will be extracted positively as I rack the slide back and forth.
What gives?
Could I have accidentally hit the mag release while firing?
If so, how would this cause the extractor to not do it's job all the sudden?0
