Model 12 Win 20 gauge chamber length

Not important at all just wondering about this.

Seller basically says he thinks the chamber is only 2 1/2"

  It's a 2 1/2" chamber unless and until you can get a mesurement to see if its been rechambered.

  If the chamber length is not marked on the barrel or on the bottom of the receiver just above the loading port, it is 2-1/2". Winchester did not start making them with a 2-3/4" chamber until late 1926.

  But...it could have been lengthend outside of the factory and not marked, right? rechabering these old 12's was a good business for Winchester.

  Sure, rechambering them was good business for Winchester... but when Winchester did the rechamber work, they always marked them. If the chamber length is not marked on the gun, the prudent man assumes that it is still a 2-1/2" chamber.
