its a double barrel pump shotgun, anyone know anything about them, how rare they are, what they're worth.

I've heard of them. They look like a standard SXS but the action actually slides rather than breaks open. There is also a compartment in the forearm which stows two extra shells under some sort of spring pressure. You fire your two shells, pull open the action, the fired shells in the chamber eject, the two shells in reserve are lifted up, you close the action and fire. Positively brilliant...And made instantly obsolete by the first tube fed pump shotgun! 0 -
That is a interesting concept.
But i prefer the double tub feed single barrel of the NeoStead NS2000.
Wish i could buy one. Even the Chinese 870 with a 5 round mag.

OSTRANDER (correct spelling) REPEATING GUN COMPANY, Gun maker in business from 1881 to 1900 whose factory was located in Boston, Massachusetts and sales office was located in San Francisco, California. The gun they made was a four shot double designed and patented by Willis H. Ostrander. He held at least four patents including 450,773-April 12,1891 for a repeating breech loading shotgun, 469, 900-March 1, 1892for a magazine shotgun. 531, 132 December 16, 1894 a magazine shotgun and 603,066 April 28 1896 for a magazine gun. There is a poor quality illustration of his gun in my reference but it is too bad to determine how the gun worked. The guns came in four grades and sold in January 1 1896 for:
Grade 3-$100. Grade 4-$125. Grade 5-$150 and Grade 6=$200.0 -
$100 in 1896 is probably the same as $2600 in today's dollars so those things were not cheap! 0 -
Is that the same operating system the Darne shotguns used? I know the pull apart and rotate sideways to reload. 0 -
