Mailing Black Powder Guns

I put this on the Gun Rights forum, but I still don't understand the wording in the Postal laws. Does it mean if it is considered an antique then it can be mailed. I see some on the auction side use Priority Mail for BP shipping. Thanks.

  Yes. Antique firearms and replicas are not considered firearms and may be mailed. You do NOT need to tell the clerk the contents.

  I'll be on the receiving end and I did't want to walk out in the parking lot with it and be surrounded by ATF and Postal Police. Thanks again.

  Just be sure your local laws allow it. Most do except for a few places like NY City and New Jersey. Anywhere else in NY State is OK.

  C&P from the Domestic Mail Manual-
  
  2.0 ANTIQUE FIREARMS
  Antique firearms sent as curios or museum pieces may be accepted for mailing
  without regard to 1.3 through 1.6.

  Yes, unless your jurisdiction has stiffer regs, you may have any black powder gun sent right to your door, or any gun with a receiver made prior to Jan 1, 1899.
  
  As a mailer, you may ship any black powder or modern long guns you wish. FFL only for handguns via USPS though.
