DOM m72 LAW Launcher
Help, I'm trying to date a M72 law USED tube. I can not see the date on it. I just bought it at a yard sale for $1.00 [:D]. It is the same as the one shown in this auction. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=221980750 .. It has
"A4" marked on it but is missing most of the decals. Many of the ones I seen from the 60"s didn't have the metal around the front site...mine does. Any ideas or info would be nice, I may be putting it up on the auction side. Thanks

I know we carried the M72A2 LAW into Grenada in 1983. As of yet, we had not seen or heard of the M72A4 much less an -A3, if there ever was one. In 1985 While running live fire ranges on deployment, I noted we still used the M72A2's. During the live fires the LAWS weren't used for light armor/vehicles we used them to bust bunkers with. Indicating maybe they wanted them used up? Anyhow, my estimation is the very earliest it could be is from the late 1980's.0 -
The A4 was the first of the 'improved LAWs', circa mid-80's. It has a higher velocity rocket and is capable of penetrating thicker armor than the older types.
The most obvious difference is that A4's and later models have a longer launcher tube.0 -
