  Orange tip is tracer. A black tip would be AP.

  +1 Txs. An orange tip identifies this bullet as an M62 Tracer. The M62 is a 142 grain bullet, although you will see them advertised with 145 grain, or 147 grain bullet (a good reason to use your own scales). According to TM 43-0001-27 the bullet weight is 142 grains and was designed for use with ball powder. WC 846 was usually the choice.
  
  The M62 has a red trace that will last to approximately 1000 yards before burning out.
