Ruger cylinder

I have a NEW MODEL BLACKHAWK in 357 and a guy has a cylinder in 9mm that is the same lenth overall, 1.961 Will it fit my 357?

    Are the ruger vaquero and ruger blackhawk cylinders interchangeable?

    I'd bet good money that it will, but if you check old threads you'll hear everything from "it should be a no problem drop in" (which has been my experience on half a dozen Rugers), to "send it back to the factory to have it properly fit and checked out".
    I'd drop it in. If it seems to fit, I'd first check to make sure it locks up tight on all chambers. If it does, check for proper alignment with the bore and headspace. After that, if all seems to be in order, I'd try shooting it and checking for uniform gas escape and absence of excessive spitting left and right. Of course that's just what I've done and I wouldn't argue with those who advise greater caution. Like the man always say, your results may vary.

    Rugers are notorious for being able to swap cylinders. I recently bought a Single Six with 2 cylinders at an auction. I assumed one was LR and the other Magnum but I was wrong, both were LR cylinders. I found another GB member who had a Single Six with 2 Magnum cylinders. We did a swap through the mail and it was a perfect fit at both ends.

    I BOUGHT a 9mm for mine and it dropped right in. No problems at all and it shoots like a charm. Tom

    So, according to your post, you had 2 cylinders, both LR. The other GB guy also had two LR cylinders. Just what did you swap with him that made both of you happy? [;)]

    easy check for proper indexing is a square ended rod that just slides down barrel....if it continues to slide into chambers without catching you should be good to go... and cylinder gap is not escessive.... but i have set quite a few barrels back
