Can a winchester model 12 12 gauge 2 3/4" chamber be modified ( have chamber lenghtened) to shoot 3" shells
The reason i ask is i own a model 12 roit gun (watts commemorative edition[:D]) which is in like new condition. I would like to purchase a extra barrel/ mag, forearm which i see a lot of on ebay. I would like to have a spare duck gun realize the new set up will have to be fitted .What i really wanted was a 12 heavy duck
    thanks rp

According to my copy of Winchester Dates Of Manufacture by Madis, your model 12 was made in 1936. Extra bbl numbered to the receiver would certainly increase value. I don't know how much.

1936 if my records are correct. A slug barrel with matching serial number will greatly increas the value if it too is the correct year. Is the writing on top of the barrel the same for both? Has the stock been cut? does it have a cutts compensator on the barrel? There is alot of variables, do you have photos?

writing on both barrels is the same. neither has a compensator, my dad says he remembers his dad ordering the shotgun and slug barrel at the same time. No pics at this time, but I think I may take some.

Great old gun I hope it has never been refinished. You have a piece of family history.

The correct date of manufacture is June 1935.

I need to see pictures of the gun ans the extra barrel before taking a stab at the value.
