Shotguns
Im thinking about buying a new shotgun i currently have a winchester model 1300 camo shotgun i only use for turkey. i want one with a wooden stock with a longer barrel (maybe some where around 28 inch)for small game and clay birds but im not sure if i want another pump or should i get a semi? i understand generally speaking pumps are much cheaper and i never shot a semi auto, id like to hear some comments about both to help me make this decision.

JUNK. for a few $$$$$$$$$$$$ more you can get a Remington 870 or a Mossberg 500 and have a gun that will work. 0 -
The S & W 916's were made for a very short time in the early 70's. This was after S & W bought their original manufacturer, "Nobel Manufacturing Company". They had such a poor reputation that S & W quit selling them under their name in a couple of years. S & W then started importing and selling Japanese shotguns and selling them as Smith & Wesson's. As the previous poster noted stay away from the 916's. 0 -
Buckawho.......well, just all depends on who you talk too and their experience. I bought a SW916A years ago that, in another life, had been a South Carolina State Police shotgun. Has a lot of handling marks up around the tube extension where it was locked in the upright position while "on duty." The gun has shot fine for me over the years and I actually keep it beside my bed as my first "go too" weapon, with a light and all. So maybe I got one of the good ones! No, it is is not a 870 or even a Win 1200 but it is what it is and has done good for me all these years. And I like it. Just sayin' 0 -

The Noble had a design flaw where the bolt lockup could fail, and fire out of battery, that's why S&W dropped it. The later 916T had interchangeable barrels, the 916 had a fixed barrel.
The S&W 1000P and 3000 pump guns were a Howa clone of the Rem 870 with improvements. IMO a better gun than the 870. They made the change when the market was bad and got out of the shotgun business. Mossberg picked up the Howa contract for a couple of years selling the same guns with the same model numbers, before they dropped it in favor of their own products.0
