28 gauge judge ???

Anybody had one yet , couldnt find one on the auction side , had a customer claim he shot one this last week-end ???

    Don't know how true this story is? But the feds wouldn't let Taurus sell it here, because it's chambered specifically for a shotgun shell. Whereas the original Judge can fire the .45 LC or 410.

    I read an NRA article that said the gun is still slated for production, and it was not declared illegal.

    ATF had it pulled at the SHOT show and it isn't listed on the Taurus website. I dunno how Taurus is gonna pull this one off. They could with the other Judge because they use a metallic cartridge and have a rifled barrel-in addition to chambering a shotshell. The 28 gauge version might not pass muster because there are no revolver cartridges for it--making it a Class III item--with extreme limited appeal since not everyone can own Class III or want to go through the hassle of getting a 28 gauge shotshell pistol.

    The 28ga version is over the .50 caliber limit, rifled or not it runs afoul of the ATF BS regs on stuff like that

    Think about this:
    How did they ever import the prototype at the Shot Show?
    ATF had to approve the importation! Why would a major manufacturer risk everything by importing and showing an illegal weapon (or unregistered AOW) at the largest gun show in the world-knowing that ATF would be there?

    Dunno, I was at the show and saw it the first day and then saw the hoopla over it being removed. Remember, this is the ATF we're talking about here, not exactly the most consistent or intelligent creatures on the planet.

    The real question would be, is why does Taurus want to keep evolving a piece of junk, that already has a poor track record for reliability and warranty? Especially one that is out of bounds with the BATFE regulations?

    Eric the issue with this is even with the Rifled barrel it is over the 0.50" bore, not if it can fire a metallic cartridge. This is the same reason things like the Serbu are either SBS or AOW, even with a rifled barrel it would be over 0.50" bore it can not be a "pistol".

    The Judge is legal because it is under 0.50" bore, rifled, and never had a stock = pistol. The same as any other pistol.
