Remington fishing reel contraption
Hi, does anyone know what this Remington is called? Reel reads Penn. Power handle is Remington model h-45 that takes 22 blanks.

Where does the red "charging handle" go? I am thinking that you have two seperate "things" here. One looks like a line spooler setup, while the red 22 blank holding handle looks like a "cement nail gun".
I wish I knew how to make your pictures bigger.

Hi, the red power handle adapts to the line spools which led me to believe you can shoot the line then attach line holders to the spooler.

First is definetly a power nail gun for cement nails, the other I'm not sure of. 0 -
How do you fire the power handle thingie? Is it struck with a hammer or is there some kind of hand operated firing mechanism? 0 -
The cement nailer thingie fires blanks. I suggest you sort out what this stuff is and firm up how to use it before you go to loading it up with any blanks. 0 -
The nail-driver (blank gun) uses a .22 cal blank cartridge sold at Sears, etc. You load one into the chamber and close it, place a cement-rated nail in the open end, and while holding the handle bang it vertically on the ground. The blank charge drives the nail through whatever you're placing and into the underlying concrete. I used to use them when putting up interior walls for placing the 2x4 footers, as a single blow pounds the nail into the ground with much greater ease than a cement nail and a hammer.
As for the other gizmo, I have no idea what that is.0 -

After 30 years in and around the construction industry, this is the first time I've ever seen a double barrel nail driver that you can attach a spool of line to. [:p]0 -
You have two items. One is a spooling jig/line stripper. Other as said above is a power nail gun. When I was in HS I worked at a Ace Hardware. We used to fire nails threw 2 pallets then sink it all the way into asphault. Those nail guns are dangerous if you don't hold them firmly. 0 -
This needs lots more research, especially to Remington.
Like Neoblackdog said " double barrel nail set " ? I don't think so.
2 nails driven so close would not hold anything in concrete.
Never mind 2 sizes of Projectiles that fit???
And spools that fit with proper base as well???
And doesn't look home made / rigged.
If this is a launcher i can imagine a different style which would work better, but you know how prototypes and first models differ from later Successful production.0 -
For some reason this gizmo really got me interested! From what research I've been able to do I think what you have here is a 'line thrower'. It's used to launch a small diameter line from one point to another and then you can reel back a larger line to be used for climbing, ship to ship transfers, crossing water, etc. While I haven't been able to find the Remington H-45 specifically, I've found enough other examples to pretty well convince me that this is what you have. Do a Google search for 'line thrower' and you'll find numerous examples. Everything from 22 cal up through military rifle calibers and 12 guage. 0 -
Hi and thanks for the input. Now I have 3 power nailers I use for concrete and all have one hole not two and the projectiles have ridges to attach the line which fit perfect on power handle & spools fit perfectly on the power handle by two screws which you twist then locks in place also there is a button on the side of power handle I believe to fire it. Cant find this online so far except for one power handle (same model) question in ask the experts forum asking where to buy the blanks and that's it. Thank you! 0
