Builder mark
I need some custom 1911 help. This is the builders mark I found on a 70 series Colt Custom Bullseye gun I have on the auction side. It is on the left side of the triger guard. Vp is sort of what it looks like to me. Does anyone know who this is, or was? The work was done back when a new 70 series cost $425.
Thanks,
W.D.

THE VP mark is the factory PROOF mark that colt has used for MANY years Verified Proof. . If you take the slide off the frame and turn the slide upside down then look at the area where the disconnector rides on the slide many pistol smiths put name and date when they did their work. I collect Bulls-Eye modified 1911's if you double click on my user name and send me an email then we can send pictures back and forth. If you send me some close up pictures of the sights and any stippling on the front grip strap I may be able to tell you who worked on your pistol . "PRAISE THE HARD BALL GUN" 0 -
Karl,
I will try to get you some pictures of the stippling today, depends on weather. I've had the slide off many times and looked it all over, I've found nothing.
Best,

For whatever it's worth, while that likely IS a VP Colts proof, it also looks alot like the triangle acceptance mark found on Argentine Colts and Molinas. 0
