Anschutz Question
I have never owned one, but always wanted one and now I have a chance to buy a mint condition Savage Anschutz model 141 .22lr with a leupold 2-7 vari-x III on top of it. It has skip line checkering, monte carlo stock and a 10 round factory magazine. Blue book says nothing about this model worth while. Can someone tell me a little about it, an a ballpark of what its worth? I will try to get some photos up but its truly a 99% gun.
Also, will it safely shoot .22 short as the barrel just says .22 long rifle?

you might want to use the search function on the auction side to see what they are going for. Last time I looked, there were several. As you know, any LR chamber will shoot the short safely. It just may not function thru the magazine properly.

Yes, but why?
When I was a kid, shorts were cheap and common. Nowadays LR is a lot easier to get and there are so many types as to cover all the bases.0 -
The model 141 was one of the Cheaper models. but still a fine rifle The Model 54 Sporter is the cream of the crop if you dont want a full blown Target model 54.
EDIT as I stated it is a fine rifle ,But the model 54 action is what the serious target rifles are built on. The 141 is built on the model 64/164 action. Best comparison I can make is the Model 52 Winchester in both target & sporter version compared to the Winchester model 75 Target and sporter version. The Anschutz 54. is a Much heavier/larger action and for the most part has a much better trigger. Again both Anschutz are quality rifles .0 -

I saw the one 141 up on auction (its chipped), but there is nothing in the auction history for the 141. As far as the cheap version, I would have to say that there is nothing cheap looking about this gun. What makes it cheap? .....and why shoot a 22 short? The cb's are as quiet as a pellet gun..[;)]0 -
It's hard to price a Savage Anschutz M141 as so few seem to be on the market. If you can get the one you described with the Leupold for under $575 I'd jump on it. The outfit could be worth a bit more. I own one and it is one of my favorite .22's. It is very accurate and classy, too. 0 -
Call Champion Shooters Supply in New Albany OH. The owner is an expert on Anschutz rifles and their real market value. If it is under 700 I would say it is a great deal.
Once you shoot it with good ammo like Wolf Match Target or Agulia Match you will see what they can do.0 -
