Old Colt Pistol Info needed
Looks like older refurb job, small chip missing from bottom of one grip.
has the numbers 5045 on it
No US marks
WOuld love to know history and value
Did see one ended auction for one that was in worse shape, but looked similar, closed at $900ish

It started out as a Model 1902, (Philippine Constabulary Model). Because of the refinishing with removal of markings and serial number, it's value is questionable. They are very well known variation of the Model 1878 Colt. The serial number should be between 43,401 & 48,097, being yours is 5045 something is rotten in Denmark. 0 -
It has been refinished.Caliber should be 45Colt.
What is the condition of chambers and the bore?
It's the Colt Model of 1902 and should have US Army Ordnance inspectors marks stamped into it.
My catalog gives 600 for poor and 1000 for fair.
If it had some original finish it might qualify for Good and $1800.
It was said Colt never threw out any parts.
Colt rebuilt and resold Army rejected (condemned)SAA's as new on the civilian market.
If the S/N doesn't match up with the 1902 series it's conceivable the frame is an 1878 leftover with a 1902 triggerguard sold as a new 1902 by Colt.
The presence of Ordnance proof marks is critical to I.D this piece as the 1902 was a Army contract gun.
RAC was Rinaldo A. Carr who inspected pistols and revolvers between 1889-1909 at Armory S-1.0 -
RAC is stamped in several places, cylinders and bore look very nice

That lends a little light to things. It was NOT uncommon for Colts to mark their guns with the last 3 or 4 numbers if the parts area did not provide enough room for the entire serial. So, refinished or not, it is likely the right range. 0 -
It looks less like a refinish to me in last pic than first one, and you haven't actually said if barrel and frame markings are gone: Are they?
The current Flayderman's Guide lists value of $900 for Very Good condition.0 -
Not sure which stamps to look for or where, but it does have RAC very clearly stamped in a few places 0 -
