WTK how to tell if a rifle was pre ban by SN

I've had a customer drop off an old Olympic Arms AR, SN is BL5xxx range. How can i find out if this is actually a pre ban? Or something that had the upper swapped out after the ban was over?

  back in 2000 Olympic Arms and a major fire which destroyed most of their records so they cannot give you an exact production date for your serial number, if it was sold as a complete rifle or how it was configured when it left the factory. They do retain information on serial number ranges and yours falls into a production block dating from early December 1993 through late february 1994...Which would make it a pre ban number.

  According to the list I have, any "BL" serial numbered Olympic lower is transitional. You need to call them to find out for sure.
