AR15 help
Looking at purchasing my first AR15. Looked at Bushmasters today at Cabelas because I have a bunch of cabelas points to spend.
If I want to be under $1000 it appears Bushmaster is almost my only option. I would like your opinion on the Carbon for $699 and the O.R.C for $899. Is there something different I should be looking at?
Since both of these don't have iron sights, can they be added if I want to shoot it that way? If so, how much would they cost to add?
The gun will be mostly used for target and some hunting. Thanks for the help.

Hello.
I wanted to get in to Ar15 business after I shot one (Bushmaster) at my local range. My budget allows me to spend around 700 for a shooter. I was looking at Bushmaster and some of the models get kind of pricy. I was thinking about buying lower and upper separately (possibly slightly used). I got Bushmaster Lower for 235$(used) Now I am looking for upper and I see some descriptions as " upper receiver is Small Pin" Since I had not played with Ar's that much here are my questions.
1) Is there difference between small pin and large pin (which is better)?
2) As far as upper which one should I get (I will mostly use it for target shooting)
3) I saw some varmint upper (24inch bull barrel) and as far as accuracy goes what barrel (length) should I get, barrel twist.
Reason I asked last question is that there is something about AR15 (the look of gun with carry handle and front sight that it just makes u wanna shoot it)0 -
I am sure Cabela's has other AR-15's there to choose from.
I personally would stay away from the Carbon 15 for your first one, and go with the standard upper and lower. I would choose the ORC, but then you need optics. Look for Names like Double Star, Rock River Arms, S&W, and STAG Arms. You should be able to get an entry level, or perhaps a step up for under $1K. If not, look on the auction side of Gunbroker.

Look on the auction side here at Gunbroker. You won't have any problem finding an AR under $1000. Save your Cabelas points for ammo and accessories. DPMS makes some nice entry level rifles. 0 -
If you go with the ORC look at MagPul sights.

I'm leaning toward the ORC and then aftermarket sights. That way I could shoot iron sights then easily add a red dot or holographic down the road.0 -
Well you could always build your own. You would then have more money left over. Yes you'd need a few special tools that could be had for $100 or less and still have money left over to go towards a scope or other options. Buying a complete upper in the configuration you want and buying a complete lower would save you some money as well.
