Any old outboard experts here?
I have an old Sears 3.5 horse outboard and I am not sure what the gas/oil mix should be. Any help would be appreciated.

I run 40:1 in my old sea-king,, It smokes a little but its not fouling the plugs,
You can try it a little leaner if you start fouling,
I always thought that a little too much oil in the gas is better than too little.0 -
Agreed. Its the standard for most 40:1 mix. 0 -
Thanks guys, I wasn't sure and didn't want to burn it up running too lean. 0 -
BTW does anyone know who made the older Sears boat motors? 0 -
It is probably a Clinton... Try this link for info,,,

A little smoke is good. If she ain't a smoking then she don't have enough oil in her. 0 -
One solution may be using the synthetic 2 stroke oil from the lawn & garden section. One packet mixes to one gallon. This will do ALL ratios. Oregan, Lawnboy, and another is some I see at my local Ace Hardware. I use them for my chainsaw, trimmer, 78' Lawnboy push mower ,and a 63' Evinrude outboard. 0
