ive got an old S&W given to me by my grandfather and i was curious to its actual value and a little history if possible.

the gun is a top break (small latch just above the hammer to break the cylinder forward and has a shell ejector) the serial is 527981. The only info i have been able to locate without paying any money for a history report is that it was manufactured b/t 1895-1909 and there were a little over 200k made.

    any info appreciated

I've seem the Erma/Iver Johnson EM-1 .22 carbines auction here @ $400.+ in NIB to EX condition. But that was when the economy was better. Just a magazine was often a $100. item. They are cool, and since both the MFG and U.S. importer are now defunct, becoming collectible.
For both it and your High Standard revolver, I would suggest checking the auctions here to see what similar condition guns are currently bringing.

Value of course, is what an item will bring at sale. I did check a couple of my price references, and AS A BALL PARK VALUE, the Double 9 is about $300-$350, and the Erma Carbine is about $350-$400. Box and papers does add to value a fair bit.

What they wil actually bring is dependent on who is buying that day, and wants one. Please do not expect a dealer to offer those prices- those are retail, and dealers have to buy at wholesale to make a profit, keep the lights on, and pay their staff.

I would note the sharp contrast between your request for information, and others I have seen that give NO information on the make, model, condition. Pictures would help, but you did a very nice job with that.
