converting a browning bar to 35 whelen
i know it can be done I'm just not sure what the best method is.i have a bar in 30-06 to start with.

Check .35Cal.com , There's a fellow out in Oregon that rebores and cut rifles them . I would think that would be your best route as the 30-06 gas port would probably operate fine for the Whelen ! I know he does it with Remingtons and they work as good as a Gas operated Remington can ! It's an interesting project . If you do it we'd be interested in the outcome , you would for sure have a unique BAR ! 0 -
I think Z-Hat will do it. They charge $675 for a complete rebarreling.
Clearwater would rebore the barrel from .30 to .35 and cut the new chamber neck for $350.
I think I'd just get some 220 grain .30 bullets or ammo and save the gunsmithing expenses.0 -

Ditto! There's also better range of bullet choices not mention the .308 has better BC and SD, i.e.,
.308 .200g NAB BC=.588, SD=.301
.358 .225b NAB BC=.421, SD=.2410
