Colt 1905 45acp ordnance FNC markings?

I saw a Colt model 1905 semiauto with the cross cannon ordnance markings which I believe were used after 1941. There are also about 1/8" markings " F.N.C." on this pistol. I am fairly knowledgeable about these early Colts but this has got me stumped. Possibly brought to service by an officer with the initials FNC, as a self-owned pistol. I live in North Carolina, but the armory in Fayetteville (FNC) was not operating then. Anyonoe seen this before? Any ideas?

  Flayderman has a write up on them in his book, "Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms". The 1905 military contract pistols were in a separate special range, "1-201", "K.M." was the government inspectors marking. There were also other features that were different from the 6000+ commercial 1905's made between 1905 and 1911.
  
  It sounds from your description that it's a commercial version that someone unknown decided to enhance it's value.
