Win Model 12 receiver

I need to chase the threads for stock shank in my receiver. I have a shank but I'm not sure what size the threads are. I can tell they are 24 threads per inch, but the diameter isn't 3/8 and it seems smaller than 7/16. I sure would appreciate any help.

  It Sounds like 10mm. its bigger than 3/8. 7/16 is 11mm. If 10mm there its not 24. There are several pitches in metrics and can be trickie.
  
  If nothing else go to a hardware store or auto parts store and play with the nuts to see what fits the shank

  I would be surprised if Winchester used metric threads on their weapons, especially in years past when the Winchester Model 12 was produced. I just don't think so.
  
  I don't know for sure, but these people might be able to just tell you the information you want very quickly. They manufacture parts for obsolete guns.

  Another thought is to just take your receiver with the shank installed, along with the buttstock bolt, down to a machnine shop. They can measure the threads on the bolt and then chase the threads in the shank for you pretty quick.

  Thanks for the replys. I don't think they are metric because it was made in 1935. The receiver is what I need to chase. I will call the number you gave me. Thanks
