Hello there, realize without seeing it hands are tied have this 1911 it is Parkerized. below mag release button is "p" and above trigger guard same side looks like letters G.M.P. ?
Supposedly a relative had from WWII kept it locked up. finish almost looks to perfect. Curious if anyone can advise a way to verify value and finish.

The serial number indicates a 1943 Colt.
The stamp is (should be) GHD for Guy H. Drewry, Army chief inspector.
Anything on originality and value will depend on close clear pictures.
Note: The serial number should appear on the slide concealed under the firing pin stop.0
