Browning light 12 question

Does anyone know if the barrel for a Belgium made A-5 Light Twelve is any different than that for a standard A-5 of the same period. This particular one was made in 1958. Thanks in advance

    I am almost positive they are not interchangeable.

    The Browning Light 12 barrel is chambered for 2-3/4" shotshells and the Browning A5 barrel is chambered for 3" shotshells, therefore the barrels are not the same.

    Hopefully a Browning expert will show up here for you, however the standard A5 was NOT chambered for 3" magnum as stated above. Only the Magnum was. If you do not get satisfaction here I would try a Browning Forum for you answer.

    I believed the Browning Light Twelve was chambered for only 2-3/4" shells and the A5 was chambered for 3" shells. Are you saying Browning produced A5 shotguns chambered only for 2-3/4" shells?"

    Car Todd is right on the money. Browning built A-5 12s, Light 12 A-5s and A-5 magnums. To be honest, I didn't ever try to put a standard barrel on a light 12, I do know that standard A-5 barrels are heavier than light 12s. I also know that Japanese barrels will fit Belgium guns. Be careful of your forarm, if everything is not right you will split your forarm. Thats the first thing I look at in an A-5.

    Your belief is not correct. The A-5 Magnum was chambered for 3", while the standard, and Light 12 were both 2 3/4" guns.

    The standard barrel will fit the reciever of the Light 12, but the forarm is the issue. If you have a standard forarm to put on it, that would work. The Light 12 barrel will work on a standard reciever and forarm.

    This is similar to the Remington 1100/11-87 standard, and light countour issue.

    Thanks to all that responded every bit of it was useful info and i appreciate it. The part about Japanese barrels was especially helpful as I've been shopping for a shooter grade barrel and the Japan made barrels tend to be priced lower. Again thank you
