Moss 835

The Moss. 835 SG ad says that the barrel is overbored to 10 ga. bore (on the 12 ga. Turkey Magnum). What, jf any advantage is this? Would the wad not stand a chance of turning or wobbling in the barrel? Will this not let the propelling gasses blow by the shot load, thus negating the advantage of using 3-1/2" mag. shells. Nooby to the post so forgive any transgressions please. -Jeff

  Reduced pressure, so less recoil, less shot deformation, tighter pattern

  Thanks llama. My curiosity had been aroused. Too bad this feature eliminates the use of slugs. restricts the guns use without a barrel change.

  That's not why it was designed. At the time Mossberg already had a catch all pump shotgun the 500. The 835 was introduced as a turkey/waterfowl gun. A first in the 3.5 chambered guns. That and there really isn't much point in throwing slugs out of a beaded sight 28inch barrel.

  Actually the 835s Bore is Bigger than a 10Ga. !
