In regards to my Winchester 9mm Ammo thread

the Firearm is a Springfield XD-9 Standard 4" I 32 fired of my tactical JHP ammo through it after the jams and it fired totally fine.. I've never taken one of these apart down to the firing pin and the upper inner workings? Is it hard to do and will I need special tools? I have most any standard type of tool one can use for cars, house building , maintenance , etc.. so if it's not too difficult I'll clean it and soak it in solvent then oil her up but I don't think it's clogged, Haven't put that many rounds through it.. Granted I've put over 5,000 through the SKS and never had to break the bolt down it's rifle meant to be abused vs a pistol.. If anyone has any links or video's to detail taking the upper workings apart I would love to see it.

I didn't watch the video, and I've never detail-stripped an XD.
But despite those two things, I think its pretty unlikely that you'll need any new roll pins just to strip and clean your pistol!
Just to be clear here, "detail stripping" (ie taking the gun apart down to every screw and pin) is generally NOT necessary for regular maintenance and cleaning.
Generally, you just take off the slide, out the barrel and springs, and then clean them, and all the parts where carbon/dirt accumulates. Add a small drop of lube where parts rub against one another, and re-assemble. You shouldn't have to mess with the fire control group under ordinary circumstances.
If you think your firing pin channel is clogged up, then it might make sense to take THAT bit (and that part only) apart for cleaning.
Even so, in some cases "gunscrubber" (which is basically non-chlorinated brake cleaner in an aerosol can shot through a plastic "straw") can do a good job of cleaning out grime and such in tight spaces. So this is potentially a "lazy mans" substitute for that kind of detailed stripping.0 -
Well I dont think my firing pin is clogged, never fired dirty ammo blasted it out with solvent and air, lubed it and boom.. I just fired 20 rounds of my personal defence ammo throgh it and it fired without a flaw.. 0
