bill, rifles are a lot like women.... you have to try different brands of ammo to find what yours likes.
you can have two identical rifles, rifle A might prefer federal ammo. rifle B hornady, etc. this is why we handloaders have so much powder, primers, etc. it is trial and try again. hope this helps...2600 -
Per above, there's just not a simple answer here & it will require some thought on your own part.
Have you determined your twist rate?
If TC's rifle barrels are anywhere near the Contender's (notoriously slow) rates, a good rule of thumb is to go with the lightest weight proj you can find.0 -
I mostly handload for my 22-250s but occasionally buy some factory ammo when the price is good. Surprisingly perhaps, given the price, the Winchester white and red box (40 rounds per box) 45 grain bullets shoot very well (less than MOA) in my 22-250s. That includes my Encore with Pro-Hunter barrel. As the earlier posts note it will just depend what your rifle likes best and you'll want to try several but I'm been very pleased with the performance of the inexpensive Winchester loads. 0 -
I appreciate all the comments and will now set to test the Winchester, and Hornady Loads. Thanks again. Bill Butler[:)] 0 -
Just a guess, but I'd say try some Black Hills in the 52 grain BTHP category. I reload for mine, 52 grain Sierra BTHP works best. 0
