Info on this J Saive sxs
Have recently purchased a J Saive, Leige boxlock sxs marked made in Belgium and am enclosing pictures. Any information about this gun would be appreciated. Is the year of manufacture 1939?

Littlegun does not have much on Saive shotguns, only that Joseph was in charge from 1919-1957 at which time the company folded.

I guess the little squiggle over the inspector's mark (star) F could be an "r" indicating 1939 manufacture.
An European shotgun with 70mm (=2 3/4") chambers is a good catch.
The barrel mark Widforss is for a Swedish sporting goods dealer in business from 1759 to date.
Their only www page in English is about their auctions but they run a storefront, too.

Hawk, Thanks for the input. I followed the Little Gun link in your post- where are the primers in the brass of the shot shells pictured?
There is a D over 1 on each barrel- Do you know what that means?
There is also a C in a circle on the barrel block- do you know what that means?0 -
The shells in the picture are pinfires, you can see the pins between the shells in the box.
(Circle) C and D-1 are not in the chart of Belgian proofmarks on Damascus barrels.com nor in the little bit I can find about Swedish markings. I conclude they are manufacturer's marks and not much chance of decoding them. Stamps applied by men long dead for records long lost.0
