1962 Lake City Ordnance Match ammo
I have 8 unopened boxes of 1962 Lake City Ordnance Caliber .30 Match M72 Lot LC 12145, 173 Grain Ammunition. It was given to me as 30-06 ammo and before I just shoot it up I wanted to see if it had any value on the collector market. I kbnow that it is in great shape and it fires well.(I had one opened box and I have already shot several rounds.) Please let me know if this has value before I waste it on poking holes in paper.

Value? Yes. Not exorbitant mind you, but it's good match ammo and if you're just shooting at 100 yards plinking, I'd say sell it. Last I bought were about a buck a round, twice what CMP is selling it for for regular ball. 0 -

A lot of folks have brought NM ammo home from Camp Perry, so there's more than enough for collectors.
Problem is, all USGI .30-06 has become scarce. Aside from a couple of folks who have small boxes, it hasn't even been offered on GB for months. Try to find a can of USGI M2 ball in 8-rd clips!
I figure any USGI --- M2 ball, AP, NM
should sell in the $1.00-$1.50 per round range.

The Greek ammo in spam cans in 8 round clips sells for $140.00 in I think 192 round cans. (about .73 per round). Some are asking 165.00 per can but it doesn't sell as fast. I just sold my last one this past weekend. DCM had some if you belong to a club or know someone who does for about the same price. I have shot the match stuff and like to keep some for my 03-A3 but the accuracy doesn't seem to be as good as the 7.62 match stuff. My reloads were shooting much better than the military match. 0 -
I think that about $17-18.00 a box would be about right in the current market. 0
