Light for SKS
What is a good model of a light that I can mount on a Picatinny rail on an SKS?

Well just to be clear, no stock SKS has a picatinny rail.
Assuming yours has one installed on the gun or stock, there are any number of lights that could work. Like most everything else in life, you mostly get what you pay for.
Surefire and Insight are two companies that put out top quality shockproof and waterproof "tactical" lights for mounting on guns, though neither one comes cheap. (EG some of these lights cost more than an SKS rifle!).0 -
As far as mounts go, check Midwest Industries...they have well priced, good stuff. Go with a surefire if you can afford it.
EDIT#1: I should add here that back in the dark days when my home security gun was an SKS and I had neither a pot to pee in and scarcely a window to throw it out of, I came across a novel approach out of neccessity. A Mini Maglight, when taped in a few graduating layers of friction tape can be inserted into the barrel loop on the bayo and be used as a ralatively useful tac light. I used it a few times for giggles on a frinds range at night and it help up fine for the few mags I put through it. Just in case you wanted the REALLY cheap approach!0 -
A streamlight TLR-1 is a good user friendly light. 0 -
