In all my reload books from the 70's, 80's and 90's, Fed 209's give slightly higher chamber pressures (3 to 5%) than Win 209's with same velocity. If you are shooting max loads of RedDot with Win 209's, don't sub for Fed primers.

I would use them, shotshell primers are all about the same and pressures are low (you can set off red dot with a flash bulb).

You can usually use them but you will need to back off the powder gharge from 1/2 to a full grain. Federal 209 and Alcan 220 maxfire primers are that much hotter. Stay away from them in the smaller gauges.

My red dot load is a 1200 fps load, not a max charge.
