i have a revoler smith and wesson on the barrell it is stamped <smith & wesson springfield mass usa pat'd may 11,1880,jan.8.1882.april 9 1889> and model # is 368880 gun is ruff found it after a relative dyed and not sure what i have got the hole barrel flips down to reload and it also has a shell ejector i think it is a 38 anyone know what i got ?? 0 -
Sounds like a 38DA. The # should be the serial number.
They were made from 1880-1910.0 -

Smith & Wesson .38 Double Action Fourth Model 1895-1909. Value in Very Good condition $225, little if any value in rough condition.0 -
The cartridge is probably a .38 Smith and Wesson, and definitely NOT a .38 Special. These were made in massive quantities by numerous manufacturers. It has very little cash value, but makes a nice souvenir to remember the relative by. 0 -
