Remington 700 SPS Tactical
So I've narrowed my rifle down to the 700 SPS Tactical, my question is, what kinda of range can one achieve with the rifle and a good shooter with a .308 a couple of people have said that if you have a good shooter you could hit a 1000 yard target, others say 500 is the max, but I know it depends on the barrel and twist rate and not only on the length of the barrel So.. the big question is should i get the non-tactical PSS with the 24" Barrel or go with my gut and get the Tactical PSS in .308

DerBarbarian,
The 700 SPS Tactical, would be considered an entry level target rifle at best. It will work ok, out to 500-600 yards, but not 1000...on a consistant basis. It would need some serious work, and the stock replaced, to be competitive out at 1000. Another consideration also, would be the glass on top of it. Serious range, equals serious glass, and your normal, average $300.00-500.00 scopes are not going to bid well.
The best factory, cost competitive rifle for long distance is the Savage F-Class., and a couple other models that Savage makes...just my opinion.
