Enfield No.4 MK1 trigger won't return

I just got an Enfield No.4 MK1 where the trigger won't return with bolt out. Bolt cocks sear A-OK until you pull trigger and it will not return. Is this possibly the sear pin & or sear spring? Have not started pulling this apart to investigate. What do I look for? Broken or missing part(s)? Please advise,

  My Enfield is a No4 MkII - the trigger doesn't have a return spring, unless the action is cocked it just flops around. Unless I'm misunderstanding the question that's as it should be.

  My rcvr. has No.4 MK1/2 stamped on it with FTR (Factory Through Repair) Perhaps this was done different later at the Arsenal Rebuild. Bore is pristine and has been made into a Sporter with 22" bbl. Williams peep site & bead/ramp front. What you describe is that the trigger flops around until cocked. Mine too. Huh!?
