    Since it is a DA/SA type operating system, I would leave it with the safety off, and hammer down. I know that statement will most likely start a debate, but that is the whole point of most DA/SA auto's, is being able to access the first shot as fast as a double action revolver.

    +1 on tsr's reply. The BDA 380 is as safe as a double action revolver when in the loaded chamber hammer down (condition 2) mode. The safety is more important as a safe hammer-drop mechanism in this pistol type. Because these safeties are required to do multiple tasks they tend to be stiffer to move.
