460 s & w
i just bought a 460 s&w and was wondering will it shoot .410 shootgun shells ? they fit, but need to be reamed out a little. if i do this, will the other 460. and 454 not shoot so well ? thanks. 630-400-1966

It's made specifically for the 460 S & W, although it will also fire the 45 Long Colt and 454 Casull safely. I definitely wouldn't alter it in any way to try and fire .410 shotshells. Not only ruing the value of the revolver by altering the chambers, but the .410 shells would probably stick in the chambers from expansion after firing. 0 -

Shotgun shells expand quite a bit when fired, because the neck is crimped down and they uncrimp on firing.
So just because a shotgun shell will FIT, doesn't mean it will fire safely through the gun.
I strongly doubt you'd be able to cycle factory 410 shells through this revolver because the neck won't have room to uncrimp. Gun is strong as a brick, so in this case it might not explode like a hand grenade if you tried this, but it might, and even if it doesn't, what happens wouldn't be good for you or the gun.
You might be able to modify shotshells to run through this gun, or (maybe better) create what amounts to .410 shotshells out of .460SW brass. But that's a different thing.
Even if it were possible for you to safely modify this pistol to run .410 shotshells (which I doubt), doing so would probably destroy most of its value, and I doubt it would be safe for .460SW after that.
If you want a .410 shotshell handgun, there are several on the market, including a new revolver from Smith and Wesson that will also take .45ACP.0
