JC Higgins .22 cal Bolt action Clip fed
I got a JC Higgins model 101.23 and no records of it anywhere. It also has other markings like a 7 at the base of the barrel and another mark i can't make out. Help?

Sears contracted with a variety of manufacturers to make their J.C. Higgins firearms. The mark you can't make out is probably the barrel proof mark. They are individual to manufacturers and can tell you which one built the rifle. If you can post some photos it may be possible to identify it for you and this will allow you to look for information under the name of the maker. Common makers were: High Standard, Stevens, Savage, and Winchester. 0 -

How about a better description? Bolt action? Single shot, clip fed repeater, tube fed repeater etc? 0 -
