Pre64 Super Grade ----Altered/fake?
You Winchester Guys, I need a little help. Consider myself somewhat of an authority on Pre64 Model 70, but a little weak on Super Grade knowledge. Please check out item 230605146111 on Ebay.On the picture of the plastic/composition buttplate note that the screw is located high in the spur and not lower down and the diamond sits to high in the lower section. The buttplate is same basic design as standard grade but a little smaller and hollowed out in back to get a tight fit.The screws are smaller than regular standard grade screws.Lop is 13 5/8. Stock does not appear to have been cut. I must have read Rules book a hundered times over the years but I am not sure about this one. Is it possible Winchester made a few with a slightly smaller buttstock and a smaller different buttplate? Thank you

Cartod, thanks for your input. My understanding is that no Super Grades after '60 except African.Still bothers me that butt plate is not exactly the same as Standard Grade plastic/composition butt plate. My questions are: 1.What year do you think stock is '59 or '60? 2.What caliber belongs in stock? I assume standard calibers for '59 or '60. 3. It has the 3 5/8" extended box,but if I use a magnum caliber, stock would need to be cut and right recoil pad installed to be correct? Thanks again.---Ray 0
