    Checkered Aluminum ! That would probably be from a 141 pump rifle or a Mod 81 . I know the butt plates on the 141s were serial numbered to the gun , I'm not sure about the 81s but I think they were too as they were made at the same time ! What are you going to do with it ?

    There was a time 50's-60's that Remington used these kind of butt plates on many of their rifles...742's, 760's, 725's etc...and possibly others.

    After looking ...the "checkered" ones are on the 742's and 725's. The 760's are not checkered...they have horizontal lines.

    The fact that it's serial numbered means that it's from an older gun . Buttplates made after 1950 weren't serial numbered . The 760 didn't come out till 52 !
