Colt pre-woodsman ser# 9455 threaded pencil bar.

Would love to know the guestimate of current market value.
Picked this up in a trade at a local gun show.
NO finish, super clean, no major pitting, scratches, or dings.
Orig. Grips, no cracks and in good shape.

Also any info as to how best share pix, would be greatly appreciated.

    No finish? Does "no major pitting" mean there is some pitting? Need pictures but if no finish with some pitting I'd guess it would be in the $250 to $300 range. $1200 or so if 98%.

    We would like to see pictures. The last Blue Book I have shows the Pre-Woodsman at 60% finish at $300. If yours now has 0% finish the value is theoretically something less. This may be a case where a good quality reblue will actually increase the value of the gun.

    No finish is that "it has been "flitzed" clean. Stampings are all still nice and deep. 98% excluding finish is close. Original grips are VERY nice and barely worn, no cracks, scratches, etc...

    My experience is that polish's like Flitz or Simichrome aren't going to remove blued finish unless they are applied with some sort of a abrasive pad like very fine Scotch Brite. Because of this and some Pitting? it's just a shooter, and I agree value wise with 22Hipower assessment.

    NO "abrasives" other than the "flitz" and pieces of soft 'ole towel...that's all. I would NEVER use anything more abrasive to consider the fine stamping of patent dates, proof markings, Colt emblem, etc... which are 98 %. Still trying to get photos online. Basically is so clean... looks like gray stainless.

    Pre-Woodsman; if you aren't already, I'd advise sticking to standard velocity ammo; especially, and absolutely, if it has the standard velocity main spring housing. That would be the one with the checkered oval, if my memory serves me well. (It doesn't always.) But I believe the high speed housing as the horizontal serrations.

    Get real...it is NOT 98% if you, or anyone screwed with the finish with FLITZ, or anything else. It is a shooter at best, and probably worth around $200.00-250.00 in todays market. You say 98% excluding the finish...well sorry, but the finish is what it is graded on...the graded finish means how much original is it...well, in this case it is not.

    It remains that it has the "gray stainless look". That means all, or most of the bluing/original finish is gone. It does not matter who did, or who did not do it. IT HAS NO COLLECTOR VALUE...IT IS A SHOOTER!

    I do understand the rating" system. It has been nearly "bare" upon receipt. Only minor flitzing" has been done to it since my possession. Between that, minor Ezox to preserve and a dehumidified safe, is all I've done. Do not know how it lost its orig. finish. Does not to appear to have happened by previous (owners) use of any abrasives...??? Perhaps soaked in something...??? I heavily hesitate throwing a "blue job" on it, as we all know that usually spoils most "collectable sales". Perhaps , in this case. Any comments, greatly appreciated.
