    Not to confuse the issue..you have a M1905 scabbard, which is meant for the M1903 rifle.

    The True M1903 bayo is either the Krag bayonet, or the Enfield series. Both started out life with metal scabbards. I strongly suggest you get an Enfield metal scabbard, include it with the rifle, and auction the canvas one separately as an early canvas M1905 scabbard.

    The plot thickens....

    Maybe wrong, but were not the 1905's leather? With canvas, (what M. Whiskey's pics look to be), first used on the 1910 scab?

    This from G.M. Cunningham's "American Bayonets Of The 20th Century", least far as I can decipher.

    Yes, not correct for the British 1907 pattern bayonet. Just a cover for the US M1905 scabbard. Never had much value, but times may have changed.

    British pattern 1097 bayonet scabbards are leather with a metal tip and boss to use a canvas frog, readily available.
