45ACP target velocity semiwadcutter ammo
Hello I am coaching 3 new Bulls-Eye shooters and am having a hard time finding Target velocity ammo for their 45ACP pistols I am looking for either jacketed 185 grain or 185 grain lead or 200 grain lead all around 800 FPS. I load my own ammo but do not want to spend my time loading for other shooters along with problems doing this . Does anyone know any company that loads this kind of ammo Magtech loads 200 grain lead but their loads are 950 fee per second much too hot for a wadgun. Thanks Karl.

Black Hills shows a 200gr. SWC reman. at 875fps. 0 -
Hi Karl,
My Wad Cutter loads are clocking closer to 850 with 4.4 of 310. Maybe you could get a local reloading firm to make them runs of a few thousand at your specification.0 -
Thanks Guys I have gone to a few local shows that have guys selling reloads . However they are not interested. all three are Women and don't like recoil. The old Federal Remington and Winchester 185 grain short nose wadcutter that the Military teams used to shoot was 800 -810 fps. and very mild. But during the last ammo shortage it ran out and factories all dropped that loading . I have been giving them guns and ammo that was getting old now they have their own guns and I just don't want to use up my stuff or try to be responsible for keeping 4 guns running. 0 -
Federal makes some but it is spendy, like about $40+ a box of 50.
Gold Medal Match Grade is 185 grain semi wad cutter at 750 fps.
BTW there are currently (4/15/11) four boxes of that on KSL.COM (local TV with free for sale ads) for $100. Check the ammunition section, do a search.0 -
Atlanta Arms loads a match load.
They use a Nosler 185 gr JHP which the USMC team discovered for target loads some time back in lieu of the tough feeding short semiwadcutters of most factory match. They say these are 800 fps.

Thanks Guys I have contacted both suggestions. I would prefer Lead for these new shooters because of both cost and lead is easier on the barrel but at least these shooters now will have choices. Thanks again. 0 -
Georgia Arms has some excellent ammo at good prices. 0 -

This guy is new give a call. I've been using his ammo lately, good stuff0 -
Won't Precision One make custom loads for you? I think they will if you ask them--tell them the conditions you're looking for (low recoil, etc.) and let them craft something for you. Won't be NEARLY as expensive as $40.00 per box! 0 -
Thanks for these two options I will contact these folks. 0
