Iranian ammo

Anyone have any experience with the 06 ammo for sale from sportsman guide. Is it safe for a M1 garand? Says its iranian 1960`s production.

    I sure didn't see it when I went to their site and looked under 30-06. I then looked under military surplus. I then searched for Iranian. No dice. You sure you have the right caliber/website?

    Maybe they're sold out?

    Edit: using Google I found it. Strange!

    65 cents a round BEFORE shipping, BERDAN primed. Says non corrosive but I wouldn't bet on that. NO way would I buy this stuff at that price. I won't even buy CMP's ammo at 50 cents a round anymore, but then I reload.

    I expect you could do better than that by 10-15 cents a round here on gb, or at least if you do a little searching. AND have boxer primed brass for reloading or selling to boot.

    On the plus side, back when Iran was our pal, we sent them over 164,000 M1 rifles. So I imagine this would be fine for the M1 pressure wise. I don't know that for sure though.

    Basically agree with the above reply. It 's over priced for what it is. Should be in the .30 cent range. It is imported by Samco out of FL by the way. I am sure it did not actually come directly from Iran as we have a embargo on anything like this, so it had been somewhere else before being imported here.

    Worth at least mentioning that "Iran" as its currently known didn't exist in the 1960s.

    Prior to the Khomeinst Islamic revolution of 1979, the country currently called "the Islamic Republic of Iran" was generally known in the West as "Persia". As mentioned, this ammo (which I would term "Persian") has to have come from somewhere OTHER than Iran, or it wouldn't be allowed into the USA. That somewhere may well be a place not entirely friendly to the USA, but that's a separate matter.

    As to the question, I'd also agree that for 40 year old Berdan primered military surplus, the asking price is steep. I can't comment on its quality since I haven't tried it.
