Winchester condition

I managed to take some better pictures of the Winchester 1886 I have posted about. From what I've read about condition I would consider my gun to be good to very good. The Bore is very clean with no signs of ant rust or pitting. The action is solid and works very well and is not at all loose.The gun seems to be all original. I am getting a factory letter from BBHC. Can anyone estimate the condition from these photos.P1010237.jpg

    Since you use Photobucket, they have made it easier to select a link; just click on the DIRECT LINK box (the 2nd one below each image), & insert it between the image markers.

    Always click on PREVIEW before you click POST to see if you have done it correctly.

    You need to read more about condition of guns.The rust in the bore is obvious in your photos.I think the gun would grade fair to poor.

    The rifle is an antique. The grading standards
    for antiques is different than modern firearms.

    Jtroph, wait for our resident winchester expert to respond. He goes by Bert H. I'm sure he will be along soon. Most likely he will need clear pics detailing all info on your antique winchester.

    The overall graded condition is "Good+", making your assessment right on the money.

    That said, the collector value is not all that great, as Model 1886 collectors look for specimens in the "Fine+" or better condition. The cracked forend stock is a bigger negative than the lack of finish on the steel parts.

    I suspect that somebody would be willing to pay at least $1250 for it, and possibly a bit more.
