Hi,

I need help getting started to identify and assesss the value of the 1911 and holster shown in the pictures. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello all. I purchaesed a 1911 a few years ago and I am not sure what I have. I looked up the serial number and it said that it could be a Union Switch ands Signal or a Colt. It has a Colt slide but does not say colt on the frame. On the mag release side behind the triger are the letters GHD, on the trigger guard on the fron is a W. The serial number is 1687155. There are crossed cannons on the side just forward of the hammer. There is also some writing on the frame above and forward of the serial number. I can sen pics but can't figure out how to upload them here.

    You will need to post photos. If they aren't good enough for us to read every marking, then they aren't good enough.

    That would have been one hell of a fire fight - shooting 3000 rounds of .45ACP would definitely take some time and a strong back to carry that many rounds. Buy the gun, not the story.

    It might be an AA rework with mismatched parts and worn parkerizing or it might be a clean original Singer.

    Sorry but your question is akin to saying you have a car made sometime between 1911 and 1945 owned by one person. WHAT WOULD THIS CAR BE WORTH Both 1911 and 1911A1 pistols were made between 1911 and 1945 . there were also a number of makers from Colt to Springfield .So lets say the guy that shot it 3000 times in WW II it could have been a well used but original WW I pistol or the same vintage but rebuilt by the military or it could be a pistol made in 1945. We must have detailed in focus Close up "from about 6 inches from all angles as well as all markings on the barrel slide and frame. To come even close to giveing you a value that may be off by less the 2000 %.
