so i've found a couple pythons that i'd really like to add to my colt collection. however, i dont know a whole lot about them as i'm just starting to collect. the first one i have found is a 1976 python 357 mag with a 6in barrel, polished nickel with the factory wood grips. it is supposedly unfired in the original box. the second is a python target model 38 special with a 8in barrel that is like new in box. this one is blued with the factory wood grips. is either more collectible than the other? either worth more? what are they worth? any help for this beginner is great. thanks

Pictures will help, your 90% may be my 75%, read the sticky at the top of the page to post pictures. That said, a WAG would be $750-$900 each, minimum.

Pictures would help us zero in on a better value, but between $800.00-1200.00 someplace. I would keep one if I were you for a shooter, as they are really sought after, and pricey in excellent to NIB condition. You might wish to check the auction side for completed auctions that have actually sold, to get the best idea of value.

SGMBalz....thanks for your question. As others have said, photos are needed for an accurate appraisal. Pythons didn't come in a 2" but rather a 2.5" and and 3" (very rare). Both short barrel Pythons are very desirable and worth a premium. Pythons are great guns and the market for them remains strong, even in this down market. If they were my guns, and trusting your "90%" grade including timing OK, I wouldn't start the conversation on selling them for any less than 1k for the 4" and $1300 for the shorty. Again, photos might mean a bit more or less but that is my take. Good luck![^]

Thanks to all. I will take some pictures and post them. All of you are telling me what I thought they were worth. Now let me take some pictures.
