    You will need the proper bullet here: 7.7x58mm Arisaka bores run .310-.312" (175gr Sierra MKHP mikes-out @ .308").

    Any bullet designed for the .303 Brit, 7.62x54R Russian, or 7.65x53 Argentine Mauser will suffice. The Rem 180gr RNSP is an old personal favorite.

    Well take this for what it is worth, but IMR/Hodgdon underloads for this round on their website rather severely. LIability issues of course, due to the availability of last ditch models and poorly sporterized ones.

    I've had no trouble running a 180 gr round nose with 45 gr of 4895. This still is by no means a real rip snorter load, and you could use it with the 174 gr as well. In fact it is 1 grain UNDER a max load for a .308, a significantly shorter cartridge. Usual caveats apply, start at 10% under and work up.

    I have been using 3031 powder to reload my Jap 7.7 I will try to get you some more info when I get back from vacation next week.I love that gun. I was a gift from my dad to my son but somehow I ended up reloading for it and shooting it.[:D]Iam happy
