Need Help/Question

I went ahead and committed to a "buy it now" purchase on gunbroker.com. It was for a C3 Defense C315 AR15 complete billet lower Magpul - ITEM # 224216150

I was in contact with the seller.. and he says hes not set up to accept paypal.. Pay by mail order or cashiers check only..

Really? I'm just supposed to send a cashiers check without any guarantee that the check is in Exchange for an item and if I will ever receive shipment of the item?





Do you guys think this is a scam? Why else would he be asking for a cashiers check..? What are the normal transactions through gun broker? Paypal?

    Paypal is an anti-2a business that closes accounts for buyers and sellers involved in perfectly legal transactions of firearms and in some instances even accessories. Combine those ridiculous policies with their fees, and that's why a lot of businesses don't want anything to do with them.

    Thats completely understandable! But is money order/cashier check really the best option? Im hesitant when there is no true receipt of the transaction.. and I'm signing a check away.. [:I]

    If PayPal finds out you send payment for a firearm purchase, they suspend your and the sellers accounts. They are very against guns [xx(][:(!]
    A post office money order or cashiers check is the way to go, unless you want to pay the extra 3% CC fee.

    With the feedback for this seller, I would not worry about the purchase. He had 315 positive with no negative or neutral ones.

    He might worry more about you with NO feedback yet [;)]

    It's usually best to just ask your question; we don't need all the details. It is common courtesy NOT to post all over the Internet the name & address of someone who may be selling from his home .

    If it were me, I'd be annoyed. I think it would be best to delete that information.

    I think you should read the auctions more carefully. It said specifically the methods of payment accepted, and Pay-Pal was not one of them...nor should it ever be in my opinion. You committed, then tried to strong arm the guy into accepting Pay-Pal. He has over 300 A+ transactions. If I were him, I would already have you posted as a non-paying bidder, and have you banished from the auction side for posting my personal info all over on the forums. You owe the guy an apology, if he will still deal with you.

    I always pay for firearm auctions with a USPS money order. You can cash them at any Post Office and most banks will take them without question. I also insist on them when I sell firearms at auction.

    Money orders/certified funds are extremely common payment methods. Some folks take personal checks for small purchases (I do) but not everyone accepts credit cards or Pay Pal due to fees and other issues.
