best small surplus pistol?

what would you consider the best buy out there right now on a small caliber surplus pistol? cz70? pa-63? makarov? any others? thanks

  J & G is selling ex Czech military CZ 82's for $200, that is about the best deal going nowadays.
  
  Unfortunately Makarovs and PA 63's have dried up on the surplus market. If you want one of these your going to have to pay a scalper way more then what the CZ 82's are going for.
  
  Case in point, local guy showed up at our range with a PA 63. He got it at a flea market for $300, didn't know any better.

  Depends on what you mean by "small caliber", but if you mean something smaller than 9mm luger, then I agree with rufe.

  CZ-50/70 pistols have dried up lately, but are a very well made compact in .32 ACP. Magazines and parts are available.

  The double action trigger of the CZ 82 is a huge improvement over the the 50's and 70s. It holds more rounds and is chambered for the 9mm Makarov. It is slightly bigger, but worth the trade off.

  Agreed that the CZ-82 does have a better trigger and the 9X18 has more power. The .32 ACP is a little anemic. I do like the smaller size of the CZ-50, however. And they are usually very dependable.

  How does the CZ 83 compare in size and weight to the CZ 82 that I've handled and fired?
  
  Seems the .380 ammo is more money right now though.

  I believe the CZ82 and 83 are identical except for the barrel (ie caliber). I know as a fact that some parts interchange and they run the same magazines.
  
  9mm Makarov ammo is a little bit cheaper than .380 right now, plus its potentially a BIT more powerful.
  
  But if your gun is in .380 you can share ammo with your other guns in .380.
